12 Must-See Launceston Attractions
Whilst you’re in Launceston for the Pro-Ex and Opperman Gran Fondo, here are a list of 12 must-see activities and attractions to do either during, before or after the event! From breweries, to some amazing 19th century architecture - there is something for everyone!
1. Experience the magnificent Cataract Gorge Reserve, just a 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of the city. Take a ride on the chairlift that delivers stunning views of the Gorge and cliff grounds. If time permits, stop for a coffee or take a ‘Gorgeous Guided Walk’ with local experts.
2. Wander the boardwalk promenade along the Tamar and North Esk rivers, taking in great views upstream to Cataract Gorge Reserve, the landmark of Ritchie's Flour Mill (circa 1836), as well as the bustling marina, cafes and restaurants located at Seaport.
3. Cruise the rivers aboard the ‘Lady Launceston’ absorbing the rugged beauty of the Gorge’s sheer cliffs and wild landscape. Sail past historic Kings Wharf, and the city’s vibrant riverside precinct.
4. Expand your mind at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery which houses nationally recognised
collections of Australian colonial art, contemporary craft and design, Tasmanian history and natural sciences.

6. Zoom into the National Automobile Museumand view an impressive collection of vintage and contemporary vehicles. Wander amongst the opulent and elegant Rolls-Royce, Bentleys, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguars.
7. Immerse yourself in the boutique shopping experiences that line the City’s avenues and alleyways, squares and streets, malls and markets. While you’re strolling, don't forget to look up and learn. Launceston's architecture is as intimate and quirky as its people; its streetscapes are immaculately preserved, and its shop fronts speak of other eras.
8. Amble through City Park, established in the in the early 19th century. Discover the Macaque monkeys, the
conservatory, duck pond and senses garden. Marvel at the grandeur of the Albert Hall, located on the western edge of this historic parkland.
