Regional Activities - The best of Tasmania
Launceston, Tamar and the North
Tee off on one of Australia’s finest public golf courses at Barnbougle Dunes or be one of the first to play a round at the neighbouring Lost Farm course. Watch Little penguins make their way up the beach at Low Head or spend a day soaking up the beauty of the Tamar Valley, of course with plentiful vineyard stops. Enjoy a latte in trendy Charles Street and then take it easy during the afternoon in The Gorge, a beautiful urban reserve just minutes’ from the city centre.
East Coast
Experience four unforgettable days on a Bay of Fires Walk complete with breathtaking scenery and sumptuous Tasmanian meals. Take a self-drive tour of the East Coast Wine Route and enjoy oysters just metres from the salty waters they were plucked from. This region brims with European history, and is ideal to discover from the seat of a kayak. Paddle your way into little known coves in Freycinet National Park across waters so clear you can see the marine life
Hobart & Surrounds
Fancy walking through the doors of Australia’s largest private art collection? The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is a must see attraction on the banks of the River Derwent. Why not make a day of it and cycle out to the museum on a complimentary Art Bike you can collect in town. Or take a thrilling cruise down the coast of Bruny Island beneath some of Australia’s highest sea cliffs. Follow the Coal River Valley and enjoy a lazy lunch at a local vineyard or spend a day exploring Port Arthur Historic Site and the beauty of the Tasman Peninsula.
West Coast
Get in touch with your wild side on the west coast, and venture up the King River on a thrilling jet boat ride or helicopter high above virgin rainforest. Take a picnic rug to Ocean Beach and wait for the mutton birds to fly in at dusk or enjoy a cheese and wine tasting in the heart of Strahan. A trip to the west coast is not complete without a visit to majestic Cradle Mountain, which is balanced nicely with an alpine spa after a day in the wilderness.
North West
Meet the makers at Burnie’s Makers Workshop and enjoy fish and chips overlooking sparkling Bass Strait on the waterfront esplanade. In Tasmania’s north west you can experience the majesty of the Tarkine, home to the largest tract of rainforest on earth and can climb to the top of scenic Mount Roland for stunning views across the region. At nearby Mole Creek, get up close to a Tassie devil at the wildlife park and explore fascinating limestone caves with an experienced guide.
