Frequently Asked Questions
How do I receive my Rider Kit and Jersey if I ordered one?
Participants in the Opperman Gran Fondo must collect their Rider Kit and event jersey (if purchased) from the Event Registration marquee located in City Park, corner Tamar and Cimitere streets, on Friday 30th November 2012 between 4pm and 7pm or on Saturday morning prior to the event between 6am and 7.30am. Participants are encouraged to complete their collection on Friday to avoid any possible congestion or delays on the morning of the event.
Can someone else collect the Rider Kit for me?
Yes, however they must bring a copy of their email event entry confirmation.
Can I exchange my jersey if it is doesn’t fit?
Subject to availability limited numbers of jerseys may be available for exchange. Riders are strongly encouraged to choose their size correctly prior to ordering.
How do I get to Launceston and where can I stay?
Launceston is easily accessible from mainland states by air. All of the major domestic airlines have regular flights into Launceston airport which is located close to the city. Refer to the following web site for additional details - www.visitlauncestontamar.com.au
Is the Opperman Gran Fondo a race?
No, the event is a recreational bike ride however participants will receive an official finish time.
Are there course cut off times?
The official course closure time is 4.45pm. In order to meet this and progressive cut off times along the course riders will need to maintain an average speed of 20kmh.
How many Refreshment / Aid Stations are on the course and what will they provide?
Aid stations will be positioned approximately between every 30km and 40km’s.
If I require mechanical support what do I do?
Mechanical assistance will be available at each of the Aid Stations. If riders are unable to make their own way to the nearest Aid Station they can contact the event coordinator who will arrange for mobile support. Riders should be prepared to change or repair a flat tyre by carrying their own resources for this purpose.
What is the Refund Policy?
Refunds are available on the following basis;

- A 20% cancellation fee will be incurred if you withdraw up until 5pm 1st September March, 2012
- A 30% cancellation fee will be incurred if you withdraw up until 5pm 1st October, 2012
- A 50% cancellation fee will be incurred if you withdraw up until 5pm 15th October, 2012
- No refunds will be offered after 5pm 15th October, 2012
What will the weather be like?
Like many areas of southern Australia Launceston’s weather patterns can change considerably in a short period of time. Participants should be prepared for a range of conditions varying from cool (mean minimum temperature for November 2010 was 9C) to warm (mean maximum temperature for November 2010 was 20C).
