About the camp
A new camp for 2011 - to be held in North Queensland in the City of Cairns - home of the New Challenge Carins - Australia's newest Iron distance and Half distance event. Held five weeks out from the race day on the QLD Labour day long weekend Saturday 30 April, Sunday May 1, Monday May 2, this three day camp is endorsed by race organiser USM Events. This camp is ideal for anyone doing the Challenge Cairns (either half or full distance) or for those just wishing to get an insight into the world of Iron distance training. If your new to the longer distance, planning to step up from Half distance or just wanting a three day solid training challenge this is the chance to totally immerse yourself into the training zone. The Camp location of Cairns in North Queensland provides a great training environment.
Camp Staff are champion age group athletes in their own right. Co ordinated by the Noosa Tri Camps team of Nick Croft (Former professional and Triathlon Australia Ironman Coach of the year, and the owner of a sub 8.30 Ironman from his professional days) with Jessica Fleming (2010 Ironman WA Age Champion) who will take campers over the new challenge course, with race specific training that will help your final build up and preparations. Learn from experienced coaches and some of the professional athletes who will take part in the weekend who will also be doing the race and conducting specific clinics on nutrition, fine tuning for the big day and group discussions to ensure all of your questions be answered in the lead in to what promises to be a showcase in lon distance triathlon.
A number of packages for the long weekend are available, catering for day camp attendance only or for those from other regions seeking accommodation for the long weekend. A full camp schedule and any questions you have is available by emailing train@multisportconsultants.com
Accommodation packages includes 3 nights stay (arrive Friday 29 April and depart Monday 2 May). Camp commences early Saturday 30 April. A full Challenge Cairns Camp information pack with daily schedule, camp athlete questionnaire, camp checklist and updated news will be sent out upon registration.
