SWIM. BIKE. RUN in Paradise!
Set in one of the world's most iconic tropical locations, the 2012 Cairns Airport Adventure Festival will take place from 27 May to 4 June 2012.
The festival features 10 jam-packed days of events for people of all ages and abilities including; 2.80.20 Cairns, Coral Coast Triathlon, RRR Mountain Bike Challenge, Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge, Quicksilver Reef Swim – Green Island, The Cairns Post Run for Cairns and Challenge Junior – a triathlon designed especially for kids! Plus there’s plenty of entertainment with a free community concert.
The pinnacle event of the festival is ‘Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns’ a gruelling iron-distance triathlon that features a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike leg that travelled one of the most scenic coastal roads in Australia towards Port Douglas and a 42.2km run that included the Cairns Esplanade before finishing in the heart of Cairns.

Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns (3.8km Swim, 180km Ride, 42.2km Run)Set in one of the world's most iconic tropical locations, Challenge Cairns will take place on 3 June 2012. It will feature a course memorable for the 3.8km swim in the warm waters of Tropical North Queensland, the 180km bike leg that travels up arguably the most scenic coastal roads in Australia towards Port Douglas and a 42.2km run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns. |

2.80.20 Cairns (2km Swim, 80km Ride, 20km Run)The 2.80.20 Cairns will replace the previous Cairns Half event and will be held on Sunday 3 June 2012 as part of the 2nd annual Cairns Airport Adventure Festival. The event will include a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 20km run, finishing along the Cairns Esplanade. |

Junior Challenge CairnsJoin in the tri fun with the kids' only version of the Challenge Cairns. Swim through the Esplanade Lagoon, ride along the Esplanade and run along the boardwalk to the finish at Fogarty Park. It's not about being the best but giving it a go and having a whole lot of fun being active, plus you'll get a finisher's T-shirt and go in the draw to win spot prizes. It doesn't matter if you've never raced triathlon before or if you want to race as an individual or as part of a team with your friends and family. |

Coral Coast TriathlonThe Coral Coast Triathlon is a tradition in Tropical North Queensland that joined the Challenge Cairns festival of events for the first time in 2011. Taking place the weekend prior on the 26th-27th May 2012, the Coral Coast Triathlon starts and finishes in the paradise of Port Douglas with a course featuring Four Mile Beach. Olympic, Sprint and Enticer distance options will be available for both individuals and teams. |

RRR Mountain Bike Challenge (35km / 70km)Rolling into its 22nd year, the iconic RRR (Rural, Rainforest & Reef) cross country, endurance mountain bike race is the longest running 'point to point' race in Australia. With over 400 local, national and international entrants racing through North Queensland terrain every year, 2012 aims to increase entrant numbers and international exposure. |

Hekili Great Barrier Reef Ocean ChallengeAnother unique adventure race that appears in the jam-packed program will see Palm Cove beach come alive as the starting line for the inaugural 'Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge' on Sunday May 27th 2012. The 40km ocean race will see OC1's, OC2's, 6's and surf skis battle it out in the mother of all surf legs' and head north with the wind toward the famous Port Douglas, Four Mile Beach finish line. |

Quicksilver Reef Swim - Green Island (1.5km/3km)This unique ocean swim will offer competitors a chance to swim in the sparkling waters off Green Island. This spectacular 1.5km or 3km swim has the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef below the surface. Swimming over the reef brings the delights of colourful reef fish, turtles and a variety of corals as you navigate one of the most amazing reef swims in the world. Following the swim, competitors and spectators are invited to relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches, emerald rainforest and beautiful coral reef at Green Island. |

The Cairns Post Run For CairnsJoin hundreds of locals, friends and families of athletes for this great community and charity event on Friday 1st June 2012 from Fogarty Park on the Cairns Esplanade. Enjoy the beautiful Tropical North Queensland winter sunshine with a 5km stroll for a good cause, or take a serious approach and battle it out with other runners for great prizes and heaps of fun. |

Southern Cross Ten Challenge Cairns Sport & Lifestyle ExpoThe Challenge Cairns Sport & Lifestyle Expo will run from Friday 1st June to Sunday 3rd June 2012 and will feature a selection of gear, clothing, food and drink stalls for both athletes and the general public to enjoy. The Expo will be situated adjacent to Fogarty Park, in the Shangri-La carpark and provides the ideal opportunity for athletes to stock up on last minute equipment needs and talk to the experts behind the brands. |

Cairns Adventure Film FestivalThis action packed night will feature several of the locally available adventure activities including Mountain Biking, Bungy jumping and Parkour. This is a unique and heart pumping event that celebrates the sports, the film makers and the great outdoor locations in which the action takes place. CAFF is a great way to see the awesome array of great adventures that are available in the Cairns region with sports such as BASE jumping, downhill mountain biking, whitewater kayaking and kiteboarding being top rated in 2010.
