To not abide by these conditions can create potentially dangerous situation for yourself and other competitors.
Pre Event Training
When you are on the road cycling or running, remember the rules of the road. Do not ride two abreast on narrow road sections and obey all traffic rules. Being a competitor does not mean you are exempt or above the law. Be courteous to motorists and remember that wearing a helmet is compulsory in Queensland and police can issue on the spot fines for breach of this law.
Rules
Event is sanctioned by Triathlon Queensland. Triathlon Australia Race Rules apply. All disqualifications will be posted at the Festival Information Centre following the race. All enquiries about disqualifications must be made within an hour after the event and can only be discussed with a Triathlon Queensland official. View Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules.
Speed Suits
Triathlon Australia is currently reviewing several race competition rules including the use of speed suits. Amendments will not be confirmed until early next year, therefore competitors planning on racing in Geelong Multi Sport Festival or any events in early 2011 should clarify this ruling prior to race day.
Swim Course
Competitors are to keep the swim start area clear. Swim warm-up if required must take place behind the start line or off to the right of the swim course. It is a deep water start. All competitors to be at the swim marshalling area prior to 15mins from their wave start. You must follow the swim buoys precisely. Any short cuts will result in disqualification. NO DRAFTING - experienced draft busters will be on the course and penalty boxes will be in use.
This is a one lap course. Extreme care must be taken at all times, especially as you approach the transition area as it changes to single file.
Timing is executed at the run exit.
Competitor’s upper torso must be covered at all times.
Police are on the course and all road rules must be obeyed at all times (eg. Crossing double white lines) - they will book anyone breaking the law. Follow police directions at all times.
