MANDURAH, Australia (September 20, 2012) USM EVENTS |IRONMAN Asia Pacific are proud to announce that Healthway have come on board, promoting the SunSmart message, as the title sponsor for the first IRONMAN 70.3 Mandurah to be held on October 21, 2012.

Healthway is now the title sponsor of all three IRONMAN events in WA and promotes the SunSmart message at all of them – the SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton, the SunSmart IRONMAN Western Australia, Busselton in December and now the IRONMAN 70.3 Mandurah event.

Healthway’s Executive Director, David Malone, said that Healthway’s focus was on improving health and creating healthy environments and the partnership with the IRONMAN events was a great way of encouraging people to be physically active while, at the same time, promoting the message about sun protection.

“SunSmart is a really important health message for West Australians of all ages.

“We love our outdoors lifestyle but it can bring with it some health risks such as skin cancer,” Mr Malone said.

“Skin cancer can be prevented with some simple sun protection measures that we will be promoting through the SunSmart message.

“The tremendous popularity of the IRONMAN events will be a great opportunity to reach a large number of people of all ages,” Mr Malone added.

SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Mandurah will take place on Sunday October 21, 2012.

The event requires athletes to complete a testing 1.9km swim, a 90km cycle and a 21.1km run, incorporating Mandurah’s beautiful waterways, foreshore, and city centre.

The event is an official qualifier for the 2013 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.

IronKids Mandurah will be held on Saturday 20 October 2012 and will give children the opportunity to ‘try a tri’ with short achievable distances and with adult helpers to ensure all have a fun event.
