Team cyclists must rack the bike before the runner can leave on the run leg. Team runners must wait in the teams cyclists bike rack position, at the bike and remember to take the timing band off the cyclist before exiting transition.
New to the 2012 Mooloolaba Teams Triathlon will be the Teams Change Over Point. Team swimmers will follow the Individual course down Brisbane Road when they exit the beach and down past Individual Transition (T1). As team swimmers are required to complete an additional 300m from T1 on foot to T2, we have introduced a designated area where team swimmers can EITHER tag their team runner to complete the swim – cycle transition to T2 OR leave a pair of shoes at this point for themselves to use. This is an optional area to make use of.
The Teams Change Over Point will be open from 8.30am on Sunday and will remain open until the final team swimmer has passed this point.
The Teams Change Over Point – Key Points:
- Located on Brisbane Road outside of T1 (individual transition)
- The area is available to ALL team categories to make use of
- The area is optional to make use of
- Only team runners and team swimmers will be permitted in this area ·
- The timing chip must be transferred from swimmer to runner in the designated area and then from the runner to the cyclist at the team bike in T2
- Swimmers shoes may be handed to them by a handler and shoes must be put on before exiting the area and re-entering course.
The team cyclist must remain in their position in transition with their bike racked until the swimmer has tagged the cyclist and the cyclist has the timing chip secure around their LEFT ankle.
