Training Information
One Month Out Training Tips from Toby Coote, Founder/Head Coach of Sunshine Coast Tri Academy
With less than a month to go here are a few tips to help you prepare for the big day:
- Know the course description and start times
- Allow yourself an extra 20 mins to get to the swim start on the day
- Endura is the sport drink supplier on the course, make sure you use this before the day so you are used to the Electrolyte that you will consume in the race
- Make sure you are doing some runs off the bike in training so you get used to the “jelly legs” feeling
- On race day walk thru the transition area so you know where all the entry and exit points are and make sure you know where your bike is racked in relation to these points
- Mooloolaba Triathlon can be very hot and humid on race day and in the lead to the race. Make sure you hydrate but be aware that you can also over hydrate. Consume Electrolytes and water. Not just water
- Don’t try anything different on race day that you haven’t been doing in training. Always practice race day nutrition and food in training before the event
Last but most importantly enjoy your experience at Mooloolaba Triathlon in its 21st year. Have fun, smile and enjoy the journey!
