Luke Harrop Bursary
In memory of Luke Matthew Harrop, and in association with USM EVENTS, the following Bursary is on offer;
The bursary has been designed with Luke in mind. It includes Luke’s two favourite races, Noosa and Mooloolaba, as well as the Luke Harrop Memorial Race. The purpose of the bursary is to support up-and-coming elite triathletes with plenty of potential who have not yet reached the senior-elite ranks.
Noosa Heads SLSC kindly donates the cash grant for the Noosa Triathlon.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 2012/2013 bursary, all athletes must;
- Be registered with Triathlon Australia
- Be aged 23 years or younger, with age determined on the 31st of December 2012. (i.e, no older than 22, turning 23 in 2012). Note: even if an athlete is no longer in the U23 category (according to TA/ ITU rules) for the Luke Harrop Memorial race in 2013, they will still be eligible for the award, providing they qualify for the ITU U23 category in 2012.
- Be ranked outside the top 50 athletes according to the TA international ranking system as of the 4th November, 2012
- Race in the respective categories for each event listed below.
Competitions
Noosa Triathlon 2012: 4th November, 2012 (Elite Category)
Mooloolaba Triathlon 2013: 17th March, 2013 (Open Elite Category)
Gold Coast Triathlon 2013: TBC (Open Category)
Awards
A) The male and female eligible winner of the following race categories will receive a cash grant of $1,000.
Noosa – 1st male and female U23 athlete (Elite Category)
Mooloolaba –1st male and female U23 athlete (Open Elite Category)
Luke Harrop Memorial Race - 1st male and female U23 athlete (Open Category)
B) In addition, the following points will be awarded for the above races.

- The Male and Female athlete with the highest cumulative total over the three races will become the overall winner
- If there are two or more athletes on equal points after the Luke Harrop Memorial race, then the athlete with the highest placing in the Luke Harrop Memorial Race will become the overall winner
- The overall winners (Male and Female) of the Luke Harrop Memorial Bursary will each receive a bonus of $1,500
