Official Charities
Five wonderful charities have been selected as the 2012 Noosa Triathlon official charities and are also involved in the Noosa Triathlon Charity Program. The following five charities will be the holders of a limited number of 2012 Noosa Triathlon entries, which are available for enthusiastic fundraisers. If accepted for a Charity Entry, you will be obligated to raise a minimum amount of funds for the charity (amounts stipulated by the individual charities).
There is also the opportunity to either set up a fundraising page or simply donate to one of our official charities or another of your favourite charities.

what your level of ability is, you can still get out there and achieve your goals.

In 2012, Childhood Heart Disease (CHD) is the biggest cause of infant mortality and early childhood hospitalisation. Every day in Australia, 6 children are born with CHD, and every week 4 young Australians die from its consequences. HeartKids' Queensland’s mission is to build awareness of Childhood Heart Disease in Queensland, and to practically help and represent those affected.
By joining the 2013 Noosa Triathlon HeartKids Hero team, your fundraising efforts will be contributing to the expansion of our accommodation support program into 2014. 70% of our HeartKids families are from regional Qld and often require accommodation assistance during what is often an extended stay from their own home.
Here are some examples of how donations are used at HeartKids Queensland.
- $50 can buy emergency in hospital meals for a parent for a week whilst their child is in hospital.
- $100 can provide parking for a family for a week at the hospital
- $135 can provide test strips for a child to test their medication levels for a year.
- $150 can provide one night’s accommodation for a regional family to stay in Brisbane whilst their child is in hospital.
- $250 provides a Family Support Worker for a day, to support families in hospital.
- $500 gives 10 families Play Therapy Strategies, to assist their children to manage anxiety associated with multiple, long term hospital admissions.
- $1,000 can provide a teenage HeartKid a unique opportunity to socialise with other HeartKids at the annual Teen Camp, with full medical supervision.
- $2,000 can provide a researcher for a week to investigate the causes of childhood heart disease.
- $3,500 can provide a holter monitor, a portable computerised device which is used to monitor and detect abnormal heart rhythms.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer.
Since the National Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1994, $81 million has been awarded to fund over 300 Australian-based research projects across every state and territory to improve the health and wellbeing of those affected by breast cancer.
We are very proud that the National Breast Cancer Foundation raises and grants funds exclusively for research, because we believe research is the most effective way to end breast cancer.
Our aspirational goal is to achieve zero death from breast cancer by 2030. With 37 Australians diagnosed each day and seven losing their battle, there is still much to do.
We are very excited to announce that NBCF has a limited number of charity places at this year’s Noosa Triathlon. Our 2012 team had a wonderful time fundraising for NBCF as we were delighted to raise over $50,000 for breast cancer research.

Make-A-Wish® Australia is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to give them hope, strength and joy at a time when they need them most.
Make-A-Wish has been granting the cherished wishes of seriously-ill children in Australia since 1985, during which time more than 7,000 wishes have been granted.
A recent international research project reported that Make-A-Wish wishes have a significant positive impact on the health and wellbeing of wish children. 97% of parents surveyed observed a ‘noticeable improvement’ in their child’s mental and emotional health following the granting of their wish and said physical health improved discernibly in as many as 75% of cases.
Over the last two years, Make-A-Wish Australia has experienced an almost 25% increase in demand for our services. For the first time in our 27-year history, this increased demand is exceeding Make-A-Wish Australia’s current fundraising.
As Make-A-Wish receives no ongoing government funding, we are reliant on the generous support of people like you.
Join the Noosa Triathlon today as part of Team Wish and help us bring some much needed hope, strength and joy to the lives of seriously-ill children across Australia.
