Event Nutrition
Nutritional Support to get the best out of the Noosa Triathlon
Whether you are competing in the Noosa Triathlon for fun, training hard on a regular basis for a personal best or are a weekend warrior, the goal is always the same – to perform to the best of your ability. Along with training, nutritional requirements need to be considered to get the best out of your race.
The main requirements to be aware of to ensure optimal performance are:
- Hydration – having a good electrolyte balance is important in maintaining fluid levels – losing even 2% of your weight in sweat can affect performance.
- Energy – adequate carbohydrate intake to replenish glycogen stores and give you fuel to keep going.
- Sufficient magnesium stores – exercise increases magnesium loss which can result in reduced exercise capacity, muscle cramps and weakness.
- Adequate protein – to maintain and repair muscle mass and boost your performance.

How can sports nutrition help your training and performance?
Depending on the type and length of your race there are nutritional requirements to consider before, during and after the event. Endura products are specially designed to meet the requirements of athletes who want to perform their best. The following products may be suitable for use in your racing event:

How to use nutritional supplements to get the most from your race:
Pre-race
To have a great event or race, you need to optimise your training. By utilising the above products in your training regime, you’ll improve your performance and your recovery. Two to three days leading up to the event you may want to begin supplementation to prepare your body for the event. You could consider:
Endura™ Rehydration - Drink one dose three times per day, two to three days before an event to maximise muscle magnesium and endurance.
Endura™ Optimizer - Take three serves per day for three days prior to event or as required to ensure adequate protein intake and improve glycogen (energy) stores.
Race Day
A combination of rehydration and optimal energy fuel is the primary focus during a race and Endura™ Sports Nutrition has the solutions to enhance your performance.
As preparation fuel have:
- One serve of Endura™ Rehydration 30 mins prior to race.
- One serve of Endura™ Optimizer or an Endura™ gel or energy bar 30-60 mins prior to race.
If you are competing in a longer race (2 hours or more) it is important to supplement during the event also.
During the race have:
- One serve of Endura™ Rehydration during 60 minutes of exercise, or at the 5km mark for 10km run.
- One serve of Endura™ gels for every 60 minutes of exercise, or at the 5km mark for 10km run.
If your race is longer than 2 hours alternate a serve of Endura™ Rehydration with Endura™ Optimizer every 15 to 20 minutes. Aim to consume 750 ml of fluids (or a standard water bottle) for every hour of exercise. Have a gel with water every 30 to 60 minutes (as required) to maintain energy.
After the event:
One serve of Endura™ Optimizer within 30 minutes of exercise and Endura™ gels or energy bars as required. Stretch and rest well!
