Event History
Noosa Ultimate Sports Fest has been in the making for 15 years, sporting the ultimate mix of awesome festival events at Noosa Heads.
Before 2010 there were three stand alone and established events – Noosa Blue Water Swim, Century Bike Ride and Noosa Running Festival. Each had their own branding and date, but the decision was made to merge on one weekend in May into an ultimate weekend of swimming, biking and running in the picturesque setting and idyllic weather conditions of Noosa in winter - que the Noosa Winter Festival. For the past three years Noosa Winter Festival has proved to be a popular event, providing swimmers, paddlers, runners, and cyclists of all abilities a chance to get involved. Traditionally, the two-day multi-sport festival drew more than 5,500 participants and over 15,000 spectators across the weekend.
This year, the event has been re-branded to the Noosa Ultimate Sports Fest due to the date change, and in an effort to better show sports enthusiast what the festival has to offer. The quality production of these events will remain the same, but with a new look and name!
ZINC SWIM NOOSA is now the host brand for all swimming distances associated with the festival: 3.8km, 2km, 1km and 500m. New this year is the 3.8km distance, which is the same swim distance accomplished during an IRONMAN triathlon. The other swim distances were previously known as:
- 2km: Noosa Blue Water Swim Series
- 1km: Zink 96.1 Swim
- 500m: 500m Splash and Nipper Challenge
7 LOCAL NEWS RUN NOOSA is now the host brand for the three run distances associated with the festival: half marathon, Mizuno 10km and the 5km. All three distance were part of the Noosa Running Festival. The courses will remain the same as years past.
The design of the Festival, with its mix of events caters for competitors of all abilities and ages, and provides the ‘ultimate’ sporting weekend. The Festival Village will be based out of the Noosa Heads Lions Park featuring a sport and lifestyle expo, live bands and entertainment, food vendors, and a program of activities. The 27-28 of April is sure to be an amazing weekend in Noosa, so enter today to secure your spot in the action!
