USM adds iconic races and multisport festivals to the WTC family of global events
TAMPA, FLA. (Feb. 15, 2012) – Today, World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) announced that it has acquired USM Events, Australia’s leading event management company and the owner of iconic premier multisport festivals at Noosa, Cairns, Mooloolaba and Geelong. USM Events is also the operator of cycling’s Jayco Herald Sun Tour and the Sydney ITU World Championship Series triathlon event. Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Emma Moffatt has today struck first blood on triathlon’s road to London with a runaway defence of her Australian Sprint Distance Championship in steamy conditions in Geelong. Clayton Fettell and Belinda Granger were in a league of their own today, taking out the inaugural URBAN 2.80.20 long course triathlon in Geelong, part of the 2012 Geelong Multi Sport Festival. Fettell lead from start to finish over the 2km swim, 80km ride and 20km run course in an event which attracted the who’s who of long course racing in Australia.
