How do I enter?

There are two ways you can enter. 

  1. Online via the "Entry" link at the top of the page. Select "Enter Online"
  2. If you do not wish to enter online, you may download the booking form from the Entry Page and then select "Entry Form". Send your form to the USM Brisbane Office via post.

Faxed and phone entries will not be accepted.  Entries will not be accepted without payment.
All entries close at 5pm Friday September 24, 2010.
NO late entries will be accepted after this date.
NO entries will be accepted at the venue on race day.

When do I collect my registration pack?

Registration for both the Sprintman and Gold Coast Half Ironman is held at the venue on Saturday October 2 between 12 – 4pm. Registration is not available on Race Day.

What do I do once I have collected my registration pack?

Once you have collected your registration pack you will be asked to attach your wristband before you exit the registration area. You will need to fix your bike sticker before taking your bike to transition check in. Please note: Helmet checks will be made by Triathlon Queensland on race day so please take your helmet home with you on Saturday evening.

What happens if I can’t check my bike in during the allocated times?

Only under special circumstances can athletes pick up their registration pack and check their bikes after the designated registration times on Saturday. Contact must be made prior to the event to provide us with your details and the time that you will be arriving. Under NO circumstances will bike check in or registration pick up be done on Race Day.

What is the course cut off time?

The cut off time for the course is 1.45pm (7.5 hrs after race start).

What type of bike do I need to use?

A road bike must be used for the event.  Mountain bikes have a much higher rolling resistance and will cause athletes to take a much longer time to complete the bike leg.  Bikes will be checked at the entrance to transition to ensure that they are in good working order.

Can I use a wetsuit?

Wetsuits are allowed as long as the water temperature is below 24 degrees.  This temperature is monitored leading up to and at the event.  Triathlon Queensland will measure the temperature and advise the athletes on the Saturday before the event.  Stay tuned to the latest news section for regular water temperature updates.

What happens if I need to withdraw from the race?

Please contact us in writing by mail/email.  50% refund, is refundable prior to 5pm Thursday 23rd September, 2010.  Entry fee is non refundable after 5pm Thursday 23rd September, 2010.  Entry fees and registrations are non-transferable from one competitor to another or from this event to another.

Where are the water station locations and what is supplied?

The water station on the cycle course is situated at the turnaround point on the Old Pacific Highway near Le Mans.  On lap one it is at the 22.5km mark and on the second lap it is 67.5km mark (same position). Water and Hammer Gel will be made available.

Where do I collect my prepaid merchandise?

Any merchandise purchased before the event weekend will be made available for collection, under your surname at the ‘merchandise tent’.

Can I still purchase Official Merchandise at the event?

Yes, there will be a select range of Official GCHIM Merchandise on sale at the ‘merchandise tent’ on Saturday between 12 – 4pm and Sunday between 5:30 – 3:30pm.

Where can I leave my gear when I am competing?

A gear tent will be set up on Sunday morning between 6am – 2pm, in the registration building.

What happens if I can’t stay for presentations?

If you are a category place getter and are unable to stay for presentations, you will need to contact the USM office on brisbane@usmevents.com.au or (07) 3868 2444 within 2 weeks of the event to arrange for medal collection.  If you are unable to collect your medal from our office, you are able to have your medal sent for a surcharge of $10. You will also be ineligible for random draw prizes if you are not at the presentation.

How do I find my results after the race?

Results will be available by 5pm Sunday October 3 on the official results page. Click here to view the results page.

What happens if my results are wrong or missing?

If you find that your race results are appearing incorrectly or may not be showing please email the USM Brisbane Office at: brisbane@usmevents.com.au. Please state in your email your name, race category, race number, contact phone number and estimated finish time.

Where are the cycle hydration station locations and what is supplied?

Two hydration stations are available on the cycle course, one is on Pimpama Jacobs Well Road (outbound) and the other is on the Old Pacific Highway (inbound).  The first available pickup will be at the Old Pacific Highway hydration station.  This gives the athletes three opportunities to pickup water or Hammer Heed (electrolyte).  Please note, the hydration stations are for the Half Ironman athletes only.  Sprintman competitors need to carry enough fluids to complete the 33km cycle leg.
