2009 Australian University Championship – Triathlon

CIRCULAR ONE Uni Sport

AUS has the great pleasure of inviting university students throughout Australia to participate in the 2009 Australian University Championship - Triathlon.  The 2009 Australian University Championship - Triathlon will be held in conjunction with the 2009 Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival on Sunday 29 March.

This is a sanctioned Australian University Sport Championship.  To enter click here and complete the Official Entry Form.  You must indicate your university name and student number to ensure your eligibility for the Championships.

The Mooloolaba Triathlon and Australian University Championship – Triathlon is a unique event in 2009 as it encompasses the ITU World Cup where the best triathletes in the world compete for valuable points toward the ITU World Cup. This will ensure the Triathlon Festival will be one of the biggest ever.

COMPETITION FORMAT
Categories are available for male and female individuals and male, female and mixed teams.
The 2009 Australian University Championship - Triathlon will be conducted in accordance with the competition rules of Triathlon Australia and the AUS Sports Specific Rules.  The AUS Triathlon Rules are available on the AUS website www.unigames.com.au.

ELIGIBILITY
All participants must be current university students of an AUS member university.  Participants will be required to present their student card on request.

AUS will forward a list of student entries to universities on Wednesday 11 March 2009 to confirm eligibility to compete.  The university will then be required to complete and sign the Eligibility Confirmation Form and return it to AUS via fax 07 3832 9879 before the competition.

University entries close Friday 6 March 2009 unless fields fill earlier. No Entries will be accepted after this date.  Payment is due at time of online registration.  All withdrawals must be in writing to USM Events and may incur loss of entry fee.

ONLINE ENTRY

Click here for a quick, easy and safe way to enter.  Entry confirmation is received immediately via a receipt.  Competitors entering online will be able to check up to date competitor listings every week. 

It is important for all university competitors to notify their university sports association or union of their intention to compete as eligibility forms will be sent to sport associations for verification.

REGISTRATION

Registration for all competitors will take place on Friday 27th March 2009 between 4.00pm - 7.30pm and Saturday 28th March 2009 between 12pm - 3.30pm in the registration tent on Beach Terrace. IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL TRIATHLETES TO REGISTER AT THIS TIME.  You must show identification (Driver's Licence, Passport etc) to register and your Triathlon Australian Licence if you are a member. 
NOTE: Registration NOT POSSIBLE on Race Day.

RACE RESULTS

Results will be available online at www.usmevents.com.au and university results will be available at www.unigames.com.au.

INSURANCE

Participating universities will need to ensure all participants are covered for personal accident insurance.  Participants are asked to consult with their Sports Association / Union to verify the extent of the insurance cover.

ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORT DETAILS

It is the responsibility of universities and/or their students to organise their accommodation and transport arrangements.

PRESENTATION CEREMONY

The first three places in each category will be presented with medals (Gold, Silver & Bronze respectively) and the Overall Winning University (Australian) will receive a pennant.
Medals will be posted to recipients after the event.

GREEN AND GOLD SELECTION

Each participant in an Australian University Sport sanctioned Australian University Championship is eligible for Green and Gold selection. 

An Australian University Sport "Green and Gold" team is a selected representative team or group of individuals who are acknowledged, recognised and rewarded for outstanding sporting performance at an AUS event. "Green and Gold" teams are selected in accordance with AUS approved sport specific selection criteria and processes and are awarded Green & Gold Medals.

This team is a "paper" team only.
