Noosa Blue Water Swim – A Local Favourite - 3 May 2007
It’s a typical autumn morning in Noosa. The sky is clear and blue. The ocean is glassy and clear. The air temperature is just starting to dip reminding us that winter is creeping onto the calendar. The water is warm. The marine life is abundant. Mother Nature is showing off!
It is 6:00am on a Wednesday and a small scurry of locals begins to gather at the life guard tower on Noosa Main Beach. This is a local ritual. The early morning swim in the Ocean. Bed Head is expected, the occasional yawn is accepted. Their togs on, caps in one hand, goggles in the other, the group begins their leisurely stroll to Tea Tree Bay where they will dive into the ocean and swim around the point to Noosa Main Beach. Some say there is no greater way to start the day.
For all of these reasons autumn is a favored time for ocean swimmers, but there is another reason, they are in training.
The annual Noosa Blue Water Swim is being held on 20 May 2007. The event will feature the 2km Noosa Blue Water Swim from Tea Tree Bay to Noosa Main Beach, 1km Ray White Ocean Swim from Little Cove to Noosa Main Beach. If you think those distances are a little out of your league then we have the 500m Vridian Splash & Nipper Challenge held along Noosa Main Beach.
The healthy lifestyle, the incredible physical beauty and the cheerful community spirit all combine to capture the essence of ‘life in Noosa’ through the Noosa Blue Water Swim.
The event is in its fourth year and attracts swimmers from all over the country, so make sure you register early as entries are limited.
