Twilight Jazz Sessions returning in 2010
Friday 3rd September and Saturday 4th September – Noosa Woods, Hastings Street, Noosa
The main stage for the Noosa Jazz Festival (NJF) is truly one of the iconic jazz venues in Australia. Set in the ‘Noosa Woods’, a beautiful tree-lined park at the ‘Spit’ end of Hastings Street, the park overlooks the beautiful Noosa River. This is the feature outdoor stage where our headline acts perform in a wonderful setting with evening sunsets and warm spring nights.
The main stage is big enough to feature big bands, but the setting is personal and ideal for the Noosa climate. The NJF team build the park amenities to be self contained including a riverside bar, quality food vendors and undercover premium seating for the jazz aficionados.
Friday night is Big Band night featuring the Ralph Pyl Big Band from Sydney which includes the great vocal sounds of Doug Parkinson, Monica Trapaga and Frank Bennett. Warren Vaché will also appear on the main stage on this night as well.
Saturday is the Festival Feature night. What a line up; Brazilian Jazz with Doug De Vries, Capella quartet ‘Idea of North’ and the brilliant New York Trio ‘The Bad Plus’ will enthral jazz buffs with their energetic and powerful performance.
The Twilight Jazz Sessions combine an iconic Noosa setting with amazing Jazz. Tickets on sale soon.

THE BAD PLUS
The Bad Plus is a collective made up of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King. All three are from the Midwest and they have known each other since their teens. Nonetheless, with the exception of one unimpressive meeting in 1990, it is only after spending their formative 20s apart – King as member of the seminal indie jazz group Happy Apple, Iverson as the musical director for the Mark Morris Dance Group, Anderson as a prominent up-and-coming player on the New York jazz scene – that they reunited in late 2000 to play a weekend club date in Minneapolis. The chemistry was immediate and obvious. They planned a second gig and a one-day recording session for the indie jazz label Fresh Sound and The Bad Plus was born.
The Bad Plus will feature in the Twilight Jazz Sessions at the Noosa Jazz Festival on Saturday 4th September.
