Help us Support Clubs Smile for a Child
In 2010, the Noosa Jazz Festival will again be supporting Clubs Smile for a Child.
Clubs Smile for a Child is a club industry initiative that supports Queensland charities working with Queensland children who require various forms of medical assistance. Each year participating Queensland clubs (RSL, surf life saving, community, bowls, golf, football, soccer, and more) raise vital funds for the local community by selling merchandise, running events, and providing generous club donations.
Help us support this great Charity by purchasing a raffle ticket which they will be selling during the Tastings on Hastings lunch service. All money raised on this event will stay within our own community.

FEM BELLING
South African born jazz vocalist and violinist, Fem Belling's versatile voice and powerful stage presence, lends authenticity, verve and warmth to the jazz classics. Born of an artistic family, Fem's father is a renowned jazz pianist and made sure she was bathed in the soul of Duke Ellington, Stephan Grappelli, Count Basie, Nancy Wilson, Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole and many more. Fem used to raid her father's record collection with unsaturated ears.
Bewitched by the magic of the Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Gershwin, Fem pursued an international career in Musical Theatre playing lead roles on the West End stages. Fem has sung and played with many of the jazz greats from South Africa, London and Australia. She joined the up and coming jazz vocal group 4PLay in London and was chosen to perform for Her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Variety Show in 2007.
After spending the last 5 years treading the boards of the West End in London, playing the lead role in Hairspray The Musical, Mabel in Fame, Rusty in Footloose and Cats and others, she has returned to Australia. On her own path of musical discovery she had been hugely influenced by Rachelle Ferrel, Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Manhattan Transfer.
Throwing her own spin on jazz standards and paying homage to the Jazz Greats, Fem showcases her passion for scatting and her sheer joy of making music. Playing a spectacular electric violin Fem creates a cutting edge feel to her music, yet has the class, sophistication and diversity to stay true to the Jazz classics.
Fem Belling will perform with the Joe Ruberto Trio on Friday 3rd September as part of the Tastings on Hastings and Riverside Jazz lineups. Book tickets now.

The Buddy Bolden Revival Orchestra aims to present the kind of music Buddy played to jazz lovers and this concert has received rave reviews and will be a ‘must see’ performance.
the Buddy Bolden Revival Orchestra will feature at Bicentennial Hall on Saturday 4th September, 8-10pm. Book tickets now.
