Noosa Triathlon Entry System
10 June 2010
After re-opening entries at 9am on Tuesday 8 June to individuals for the Noosa Triathlon it reached capacity within hours and while there were many pleased successful entrants equally there were a lot of disappointed competitors that missed out.
We do acknowledge that the process was very slow due to the measures we had to put in place to ensure that the system did not crash, and that we provided the fairest and most equitable chance for everyone to enter. While the system did not crash the demand was still overwhelming and slowed the processes.
We understand there are many very disappointed people that missed out on a spot in the triathlon that spent long hours trying.
Why did it happen? Our system is unique having been adapted over the last 6 years to cater specifically for the sport of triathlon. It has been built to capture details that are unique to the sport and been streamlined to meet the rapidly increasing demand over the past two years. This year's online registration received nearly ten times the traffic on our website compared to last year. We expected and planned for an increase but not to that capacity. Plans for a new and improved system have been fast tracked and will be in place shortly.
As a company USM Events prides itself on delivering events of the highest standard and we understand the frustration that a lot people encountered in trying to register, only to miss out, for this we do apologize.
One of the resolutions lies in the ability for us to accommodate additional places into this iconic event that has now reached such status and demand, and which we are working on with all our event stakeholders. We want to reassure our customers that USM Events remains committed to ensuring sustainable growth at both the Noosa and Mooloolaba triathlons every year to cater for the increasing demand of our existing customers while attracting new competitors to the events.
Implementing new IT solutions across our entire program of events is another important item that we are already investigating and will be making a further announcement about within the week.
To all our loyal customers that have experienced a USM Event and know the quality that we strive for we hope that you will continue returning to our events as we aim to keep improving with your continued input.
USM Events appreciate all the feedback that has been sent and will reply to everyone individually.
