Course Swim - 1500m.  In sheltered canal
  Cycle - 40km. Undulating out and back course on the Noosa - Cooroy Road

Pre Event Participation You must ensure that you have trained sufficiently and are physically capable of completing the event within your current level of health and fitness.  You must also ensure at all times during the event that you are performing well within your level of skill and ability for each of the three disciplines.  To not abide by these conditions can create potentially dangerous situation for yourself and other competitors.
Pre Event Training When you are on the road cycling or running, remember the rules of the road. Do not ride two abreast on narrow road sections and obey all traffic rules.  Being a competitor does not mean you are exempt or above the law.  Be courteous to motorists and remember that wearing a helmet is compulsory in Queensland and police can issue on the spot fines for breach of this law.
Competitor Registration Registration for all competitors will take place on Friday 31st October 3:00pm-6:00pm and Saturday 1st November 11:00am-4:00pm in the registration tent in the Festival Village, Noosa Woods.  Please bring a printed copy of your receipt.  Your receipt contains a barcode that will be scanned at registration.  A copy of your receipt can be printed from your Members Area.    IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL TRIATHLETES TO REGISTER DURING THESE TIMES.        
 

You must show identification (Driver's Licence, Passport etc) to register and your Triathlon Australia Licence if you are a member.
A race number and ID wristband will be issued.  You will also be given a bike security sticker, bike number, helmet sticker, EYELINE swim cap and timing band.  Your ID wristband will be put on your wrist by a volunteer - your ID wristband must be on your wrist at Race Start on Sunday, this is your identity throughout the race.  You will also receive a written race briefing - please read this carefully as this is your only race briefing.  Please check all the numbers on each item match and you have been given the correct colour swim cap for your wave start.

You will then progress to the event bag collection area where you will be given your event bag containing ASICS singlet, ASICS visor, ENDURA water bottle & bar, Triathlon Multi Sport Magazine and lots more. 
Team Registration Teams will receive 1x race number, 3x ID wristbands, 1x helmet sticker, 1x bike security sticker, 1x Eyeline swim cap and 1x timing band per team (ALL team members must wear the timing band, passed from each team member like a relay baton).  It is only necessary for one team member to register for their team, however, they must be able to pass on the team kit to the other team members BEFORE race start. 
  No competitor will be accepted after 4:00pm Saturday and we cannot be responsible for you arriving late so allow for mishaps when making travel arrangements.  
  PLEASE NOTE:  It is ILLEGAL for someone to race under your name or for you to race under someone else's - this will result in suspension from your State Triathlon Association and you are not insured while racing.
Parking As transition is located on one of the main parking area's of Noosa, parking close to the event arena is limited so please allow plenty of time.  Please be aware of all parking regulations will still apply throughout the Festival please refer to council parking signs for more details.  There is no official event parking.  We do provide a gold coin donation shuttle bus service with two pick up points (Noosa AFL Grounds, Weyba Rd and Noosa Junction, Lanyana Way)
Bike Check In Compulsory for all individuals and at least one team member. Bikes to be racked by individuals and team members on Saturday 1st November between 10:00am-4:30pm. 
  Your bike will be visually inspected by Triathlon Queensland officials and no bike will be accepted unless it passes inspection. 
  Security guards are on duty 4:30pm Saturday afternoon until transition opens on Sunday morning at 5:00am. Security chains are recommended. If your bike is not checked in during this time you will not be able to participate. Officials will be checking for such things as: handlebar plugs, tyres in reasonable condition, stripped cable, at least one water bottle cage.
  Helmets will be checked Sunday morning on entry to the transition area by Triathlon Queensland Officials. Ensure you have your Helmet Sticker (received at registration in your kit) on your Helmet. Bikes cannot be removed from the compound under any circumstances during this time. The individual transition must be clear by 7:00am.

  If you withdraw on race day before the race start, please advise the help desk near the gear tent and hand your timing band in.  If you withdraw during the race, please report to the Festival Information Centre and advise them you have withdrawn and also hand your timing band in.  If you do withdraw please DO NOT cross the finish line area.
Changes to Entry Changes can be made to your race entry prior to the event day by contacting the USM Events office - Email info@usmevents.com.au or Phone 07 5449 0711 up until 5pm Wednesday 29th October.
  Changes after 5pm Wednesday 29th October can be made at the Athlete Help Desk at the Festival Village during registration times.
Cancellation Fee

Medical Insurance It is strongly advised that you take out personal medical insurance for the duration of your stay, especially for international competitors.  Under the Australian Health Act, all non-Australians are not covered financially for personal injury.  If you do have an accident you must pay for your own medical expenses.  Therefore it is essential for you to obtain adequate personal medical insurance.
Race Briefing/Race Start You will receive a written race briefing at registration - Please Read Carefully.  There will be a pre-race briefing at the swim start for all competitors before each wave start.
Wave Starts All competitors will receive their swim cap in their race kit.  Please check that your swim cap colour reflects the colour of your wave start.  Final wave details will be provided with Race Briefing which will be given to all competitors at Registration. Wetsuits ruling: On Saturday a provisional water temperature will be posted on the information boards at transition and at registration - final wetsuit ruling will be announced Sunday morning.
Rules

Event is sanctioned by Triathlon Queensland.  Triathlon Australia Race Rules apply.  All disqualifications will be posted at the Festival Information Centre following the race.  All enquiries about disqualifications must be made within an hour after the event and can only be discussed with a Triathlon Queensland official.  Click here for Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules.

Swim Course Competitors are to keep the swim start area clear.  Swim warm-up if required must take place behind the start line or off to the right of the swim course.  Deep water start, competitors in starting wave to line up on start line.  All competitors to be at the swim marshalling area by 7:30am.  You must follow the swim buoys precisely.  Any short cuts will mean disqualification.  Follow all directions of surf lifesaving officials.  Ensure timing band is firmly secured on your ANKLE.
  CUT OFF TIMES: All swimmers will be able to complete the swim course
  Team Competitors: Any team cyclists remaining in transition at approx 9:00am (TBC) will be instructed to commence the cycle leg.  All team swimmers will be able to finish the swim and make their way to the Teams Transition Area and hand the timing band to the team runner.  All swimmers and runners will receive accurate timing splits.
Cycle Course To ensure an even race for all competitors you must rack your bike in your correct signed age group rack.
  NO DRAFTING - experienced draft busters will be on the course and penalty boxes will be in use.
  This is a one lap course, extreme care must be taken at all times.  Take special care on "The Hill"; single file only as you approach the transition area.
  Timing is executed at the run exit.
  Drink plenty of water in preparation for the run leg.
  Upper torso must be covered at all times.
  Police are on the course, all road rules must be obeyed at all times (eg. Crossing double white lines) - they will book anyone breaking the law.  Follow police directions at all times.

  WARNING - IF YOU DO NOT USE AID STATIONS AND CONTINUE TO RUN WHEN DEHYDRATED AND OVERHEATED, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH.
  CUT OFF TIMES: From 11:30am all runners still on the course will be advised to move onto the footpath.  You will not receive an official race time.
  If you feel you cannot meet this criteria, please contact us on 07 5449 0711 to discuss - there are no excuses if you don't and then on the day you do not meet the cut off time!
Team Information A team swimmer must not remove the timing band until within the transition area.
  Team cyclists must stay in allocated rack position with seat over the rail until swimmer has tagged the cyclist.  Swimmer needs to pass the timing band onto the CYCLIST.
  Team cyclists must rack bike before runner can leave on run leg.
  Team runners must wait in team cyclists bike rack position, remember to take the timing band off the cyclist before exiting transition.
Results Provisional race results will be posted at the Festival Information Centre and the Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving Club.  Provisional results will also be posted on the USM website www.usmevents.com.au on Sunday night 2nd November.
Presentations Will be in the Festival Village, Noosa Woods at 5:00pm.  Please do not bring your bikes with your as there is limited area outside to store them.

15 Year Club So you've already got your Noosa 10 Year Club polo? For our 15 year Noosa Triathlon competitors we have a special edition CANNIBAL jersey.  
20 Year Club Got the polo and the jersey?  For our few 20 year clubbers we not only have the special edition CANNIBAL jersey but we also have the special edition shorts.
25 Year Club Our 25 Year Club was created last year and we currently have 1 member. For those that have been there year in year out we have something very special planned for you.
Participants Over 8,000 national and international competitors in the Festival and 5,600 in the Triathlon.
History The Noosa triathlon celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2007.  It is the oldest, biggest and most established race in Australian triathlon history.  It is the largest triathlon in the Southern Hemisphere and in 2008 will attempt to surpass Chicago Triathlon to become the 2nd largest triathlon in the world, second only to London Triathlon.
