| How do I enter? |
There are two ways you can enter. You can either enter online via the "Entry" link at the top of the page, and then click on "Enter Online". If you do not wish to enter online, you may download the booking form from "Entry" and then "Entry Form" via the links at the top of the page, and then send your form to us via post (click here for address- hyperlink to our contact us page). Faxed and phone entries will not be accepted. Entries will not be accepted without payment.
Mailed entries are accepted up until 5:00pm on the Thursday prior to each race.
Online entries are accepted up until Midday on the Friday prior to each race, and incur a $5 late fee after 5:00pm on the Thursday prior to each race.
Race Weekend Entries are accepted at the race venue on;
Saturday – between 2 – 5pm and incur a $10 late fee
Sunday – between 5.15am – 6.15am and incur a $15 late fee |
| What is my correct age group category? |
Your age for all 6 races in the series is the age you are as of 31/12/2009. |
| Where do I leave my gear while I'm racing? |
| You can leave your sports bag in the gear tent where it will be safely watched over by the event staff while you are out on the course. |
| What is a wave start? |
| To avoid having all the athletes entering the water at the same time, competitors are divided into “waves”. Each wave will consist of no more than 80 swimmers to give you plenty of room to swim and enter transition smoothly. Check the information board for your swim start time. |
| Can I wear a wetsuit? |
| The water temperature is taken the morning of the race and if the water is 24 degrees or above then it is a non-wetsuit swim. If the water temperature is below 24 degrees, you will be given the option of wearing a wetsuit. It is not a requirement to wear a wetsuit if the water temp is below 24 degrees. |
| Can I use a mountain bike? |
| Yes you can. You can use any type of bike you like provided it is roadworthy and approved by Triathlon Queensland. |
| Do I need to wear “bike shoes”? |
| No – in fact, unless you are an experienced rider, it's probably a good idea to stick to your running shoes when you're starting out. It also means less change over when you switch form the bike to the run! |
| Is there water on the course? |
| Yes, there is plenty of water available on the run course. It is a good idea to slow down and make full use of the drink stations |
| What happens after the race? |
| After the race is a great time to catch up with friends and family, make new friends with your fellow competitors and generally talk about the whole experience! After that, stick around for the presentations and random draw prizes, remember to put your race number in the barrel, you must be present to win! |
| What if I can't stay for presentations? |
If you are a category place getter and are unable to stay for presentations, you will need to contact the USM office on brisbane@usmevents.com.au or (07) 3868 2444 within 2 weeks of the event to arrange for medal collection. If you are unable to collect your medal from our office, you are able to have your medal sent for a surcharge of $10. You will also be ineligible for random draw prizes if you are not at the presentation. |
| How do I become a Triathlon Queensland member? |

By becoming a Triathlon Queensland member you will become exempt from paying the one day license fee attached to all USM triathlon events within the membership year. |
| If I withdraw from the race, can I transfer my entry or get a refund? |
Under the terms and conditions of entry, there are no transfers. Refunds will be honoured at 50% if you withdraw in writing 10 days prior to the applicable race. Click here to read the Terms and Conditions of Entry.
You cannot transfer your entry to someone else - and it is illegal to race under someone elses name. |
| How do I find out my result after the race? |
Results will be available on the night of the event via the USM Events website. You will find these via the links at the top of the page - Event Information > Results. |
| Where can I find photos of the race? |
Photos will be availabe from Sporting Images within the week after the race. An email will be sent when the photos become available. |
| How can I make changes to my entry? |
If you have entered into the wrong category or race, you can contact us up until the Thursday prior to each race to make the change. If you need to make a change to your entry after this time, you will be able to see us at the help desk at the race venue during registration time on the Saturday and Sunday of the event weekend.
If you are changing from the Enticer distance to the Gatorade QTS distance, you will be required to pay the difference in entry fees before the change is made. |
| What do I get in my race kit? |
You will receive the following items when you register for the race on the Saturday or Sunday at the venue:
- Timing band (to be worn on your left ankle)
- Bike sticker (to be attached to the top or side of the stem on your bike so that it is visual from the front)
- Race number (to be worn so that it is visible from the front - only required in the run leg)
- safety pins (to secure your race number if a race belt isn’t used)
- Swim cap (all competitors must wear their given cap)
- Competitor Race Briefing (this is important information that must be read before competing in the race)

| Can I race with an MP3, IPOD or other music devices? |
You are not permitted to race with any music devices including mobile phones, MP3 players, earphones etc, as stated in Triathlon Australia's rules and regulations. If you are caught with any of these items, you will be instantly disqualified. |
| My results are incorrect or not showing? |
If you find that your race results are appearing incorrectly or may not be showing up at all please email the USM Brisbane Office at: brisbane@usmevents.com.au. Please state in your email your name, race category, race number, contact phone number and estimated finish time.
Please ensure though that prior to contacting Champion Chip that you have searched the results thoroughly. |
| Can I enter on race weekend? |
Yes you can enter the Saturday prior to the race and on race morning. Registration is located at the race venue for each event and is open between 2pm-5pm on Saturday and 5.15am-6.15am.
Saturday registrations incur a late fee of $10 and race day entries incur a late fee of $15. |
| Is there a baggage storage area? |
Yes there is baggage storage available. This is located at the registration tent after registration has closed. Registration will close at approximately 6:15am at each event. |
| What are the age restrictions? |
Yes there are age restrictions for each of the different events within the series;
The Courier-Mail Kool Kids Triathlon – 7-11years
Scody Enticer – 12years and older
Gatorade QTS Triathlon – 13years and older |
| What does a team entry consist of for the Gatorade Queensland Tri-series? |
A team consists of 2 or 3 participants with each person completing one or two legs of the triathlon. Each team has a swimmer, cyclist and runner.
The team is given one timing chip which must be used like a relay baton and passed from one team member to the next within the transition area. |
