The Launceston Pro Ex offers recreational cyclists and groups a chance to live like a pro and ride alongside some of Australia and the World's best professional cyclists.
A week long ALL-inclusive cycling adventure around the scenic landscapes that are Tasmania!
Riders will be mentored daily by the official event ambassadors. 2011 saw Richie Porte, Matt Goss, and the Genesys Wealth Advisers cycling team take the group through a week long experience they will forever remember.
YOU TOO can live the life of a Pro cyclist as you eat, live, train and indulge in all that Tasmania has to offer cycling enthusiasts looking for their next adventure with our 2012 International Pro Team ambassadors (to be announced shortly).
2011 PARTICIPANT TESTIMONIALS
Toby Shingleton (RIDE Magazine): "Winding your way through the lush countryside in the company of riders of the calibre of Goss or Porte chatting about position on the bike, training schedules or anything else that comes to mind is something that all cyclists should add to their bucket list."
Stephen Bobyn: “As a 51-yr old Canadian, cycling enthusiast, but unaccustomed to regular group rides, I approached the Launceston Pro Ex being a little intimidated, as to whether the pace would be excessive for me, worried about mechanical (bike) failure, and how to relate to pro riders. The staff were excellent in welcoming, and ensuring we all felt comfortable, so within the first day all my 'concerns' were alleviated. Pace set by either the pros Matt and/or Ritchie, and especially the Genesys riders Nathan Earle and Campbell was great, they were all fantastically accommodating and approachable, answering all our dumb questions without judgment. I can't say enough about the pros/Genesys input, please pass on my thanks. I could have invested in a new bike, but I would not be a better cyclist for it. I am very happy to have participated in the Pro-Ex, I forged many fantastic relationships with the other participants, and the mentoring/riding during the week made me a better, more confident cyclist.“
Anthony Loone: “It was one of the best weeks of his life riding alongside the Genesys boys, Richie Porte and Matt Goss.”
ABOUT THE WEEK:
Enjoy training through the scenic and challenging landscape around Launceston with the Pro’s for 5 days, then participate in the Opperman Gran Fondo, a timed 160km event on Saturday before sitting back and enjoying top class hospitality while you enjoy VIP treatment watching the Launceston International Criterium.
The package includes accommodation for 7 nights, meals, airport transfers, daily and fully supported training rides with pro cyclists (including support vehicles, refreshments, doctor and basic mechanical support), massage, ride pro pack (cycling kit, nutrition products, back pack plus more!); and a comprehensive education program covering topics such as training, nutrition, recovery, and bike design.
A range of alternate distances are available for riders to choose from each day so that the abilities and energy levels of all cyclists are catered for.
Strictly limited to 30 places.
ABOUT LAUNCESTION:
The City of Launceston and surrounding areas has a remarkable history of cultivating some of the world’s best cyclists including Michael Wilson, Danny Clarke, Michael Grenda, Mathew Gilmore and more recently current stars Matt Goss, Wesley Sulzberger and of course Richie Porte.
