Celebrating 21 years of World Championships - since 1989, we aim to bring you a magnificent ‘world triathlon festival’ to commemorate this great tradition.

The five day event will feature 3,500 athletes, attract 50,000 spectators, held in one of the world’s most spectacular tourist destinations – Queensland’s, Gold Coast, also home to some of the world’s best triathletes.

Along with world class competition the Festival Village will provide a music program to keep you entertained, first class dining facilities and a hedonistic triathlon shopping experience from our Expo.

World Sprint Champs added to program

Following developments at the Vancouver World Championships, USM EVENTS is pleased to announce we have successfully negotiated to host the 2009 World Sprint Championships in conjunction with the ITU World Triathlon Championships program.

For the first time the 2009 World Sprint Championships was to tendered as a separate property from the Olympic distance but the Gold Coast will now host the following championship categories:

ITU Aquathlon World Championship – Elite & Age Group
ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships
ITU Junior Men Triathlon World Championship
ITU Junior Women Triathlon World Championship
ITU Age Group Triathlon World Championship
ITU AWAD Triathlon World Championship
ITU Elite Men Triathon World Championship
ITU Elite Women Triathon World Championship
ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships
