ABOUT MOOLOOLABA | SUNSHINE COAST TRAINING FACILITIES | ACCOMMODATION

 ABOUT MOOLOOLABA

Mooloolaba is one of Australia’s premier beachside resorts, situated in South-East Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.  It is only a forty-five minute drive from Brisbane’s International Airport and just ten minutes from Sunshine Coast Airport, a major regional facility.  Combined with a beautiful coastline of sun-drenched beaches and the pristine blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, Mooloolaba also boasts some of the best weather conditions in the world with an average summer temperature of 28oc and winter temperature of 18oc.

This beautiful location provides the perfect opportunity for competitors and non-competing partners and families to stay and enjoy the relaxed environment and attractions, including the Sunshine Coast’s hinterland, whilst taking pleasure in Mooloolaba’s vibrant beachfront café lifestyle.

Mooloolaba features fantastic residential and resort-style accommodation with reasonable prices available for long-term accommodation.  Much of Mooloolaba’s accommodation is centred around the cafés, restaurants and boutique shops on the up-market beachfront tourist strip which doubles as the venue for the ITU World Cup and the Mooloolaba Triathlon.

The Sunshine Coast region is quickly becoming recognised as the pre-eminent triathlon, cycling, running, swimming and adventure training destination in the world.  The combination of safe, secure living conditions, great running and cycling courses and a variety of swimming pools, gyms, dedicated training facilities and sports physiology testing centres, are now being utlised by teams and athletes from all over the globe, enabling them to live comfortably and train at their peak capacity for maximum results.

The Mooloolaba Triathlon is now in its 17th year and the second biggest Olympic-distance triathlon in Australia, with over 4,000 competitors.  It is part of a 3-day multi sport festival which attracts more than 6,000 participants across a variety of sporting and entertainment activities adding a festive atmosphere to the event.

Mooloolaba Triathlon features the first race in the ITU World Cup Series and is only ninety minutes drive away from the venue for the 2009 ITU World Cup on the Gold Coast.  Mooloolaba also provides a second tier triathlon for professional triathletes, who don’t make the World Cup start list, with over AU$10,000 prize money.  This race is open to all Australian and International triathletes and competitors can enter directly through USM Events without any formal accreditation.  They must simply have a professional license from their country’s National Governing Body to be eligible to race and win prize money.  Mooloolaba is also a central location for World Cup competitors being only a stones throw away from the New Zealand and Japan World Cup events which follow on from the Mooloolaba race.

USM Events are the locally based event management team and will be only too happy to assist with all your travel, accommodation and training requirements to ensure your stay in the region is entirely trouble-free, completely productive and an enjoyable experience that you will want to repeat every year.
